The Story Behind Gota de Leche’s Program 3
Gota de Leche has a long history of service. But did you know that award-winning journalist and long-time Gota de Leche supporter Ninotchka Rosca helped establish our Program 3, which focuses on Disaster Relief and Community Outreach?
The program was created to aid women and girls affected by disasters specifically. Gota de Leche initiated this effort in areas devastated by Typhoon Yolanda, leveraging grassroots partnerships, small volunteer teams, and women’s NGOs for rapid response.
Our outreach extended to Cebu, Palawan, Bohol, Biliran, Negros, Iloilo, Capiz, and Aklan. At the same time, disasters continued to impact vulnerable populations in places like Catanduanes, Albay, Camarines Sur, Mindoro, Pampanga, Bataan, Bulacan, Montalban, Cagayan, Benguet, Ifugao year after year.
Thanks to people who saw the small but constant and consistent potential of Program 3, we have managed to link with donors local and foreign and with people and groups on the ground.
