This month, La Proteccion de la Infancia, Inc. (LPI) marks its 118th year as the Philippines’ longest-serving registered non-profit corporation. La Proteccion began in 1906 as Gota de Leche, a project of Associacion Feminista Filipina, a group of enlightened women who supported or were allies of the Katipunan, the revolutionary army that fought the wars against colonial Spain in 1896 and against the invasion by United States 1899. LPI would like remember the progressive women who, over 100 years ago, envisioned a nation where women had the right to be educated, to work and earn as professionals, to own their own property, and to take charge of their lives and bodies.
