A Bird’s Eye View of the Gota de Leche Building

In one of the first blog posts for Gota de Leche written by Ms Elizabeth Lolarga, its presence was poetically described as “And so in a neighborhood of fast-food multinationals standing cheek by jowl with makeshift carinderias, turo–turos, student canteens and even beauty parlors that sell foodstuff on the side, the Gota de Leche building sits serenely, continuing its mission to feed the bodies of the nation’s future.”

Accompanying this prose are pictures of what makes Gota de Leche and its unique features an “oasis in a concrete jungle”.  Apart from the obvious – Gota has a self-sustaining lush front yard, statues depicting mothers caring for their young children, as well as cherubs in the pink of health – inside the building, a legacy of nurturing undernourished children for over a century continues.

Today, we proudly present a different angle of this UNESCO heritage awardee. With aerial views of the roof, lot area, and the statue of a mother with healthy children seen up close for the first time, we wish to present what truly makes this structure an oasis for those we created our programs for – the mothers and their babies.
